Committee Expands Search Locally For CEO Position
The Lawrence Chamber of Commerce CEO Search Committee is seeking additional candidates in the Lawrence area for the replacement of Greg Williams, who resigned his position in March.

"While we have received a number of qualified resumes from local candidates for the position to date that we intend to interview, we believe it is prudent to expand our search locally to ensure that we have a diverse pool of applicants who have solid business experience to select from," said Doug Gaumer, chair of the search committee.

Candidates must possess strong leadership and strategic planning skills and be able to carry out the core strategic priorities set forth by the Chamber's Board of Directors, including:

  • Leading economic development efforts for Lawrence and Douglas County
  • Overseeing activities related to maintaining effective member relations and expanding the membership base
  • Maintaining a fiscally sound budget
  • Advocating on behalf of the members to improve the business environment and economic vitality of Lawrence and Douglas County
  • Actively participating and engaging with the Community

Celebrate the 2014 Graduating Class of Leadership Lawrence
Join us on Friday, April 25, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Alvamar Country Club to celebrate the achievements of the 2014 Graduating Class of Leadership Lawrence.  In addition to honoring the graduating class, recipients of the Don Volker Award and The Wally Galluzzi Award will also be recognized during the program.

The Sand Trap Classic Golf Tournament


Take the WORK out of networking with the Chamber's annual Sand Trap Classic - a fun-filled day of golf on the beautiful greens of Alvamar's Championship Course, on Friday, May 2!

Registration begins at 11:00 a.m. with a light lunch, courtesy of ZarcoUSA and Sandbar Subs, as well as music and on-air player interviews with Jay Wachs, courtesy of LawrenceHits.com.  Players will tee off with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. and can expect to encounter any number of fun, interactive activities along the course!

Entry fees are just $100 per player or $375 per team.  This all-inclusive rate takes care of lunch, cart & greens fees, range balls, prize entries and beverages on the course, provided courtesy of O'Malley Beverage and 23rd Street Brewery.  PLUS, each golfer receives a voucher for free golf for FOUR on Alvamar's Private Members' Course - a $350 value!

The Legislative Wrap-Up Reception

Our third and final Legislative Series Event, the Legislative Wrap-Up Reception, will take place on Friday, May 9, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Lawrence Arts Center.  This evening social event celebrates the completion of the legislative session and recognizes the efforts of the local delegation.
