Leadership Lawrence

Leadership Lawrence, a program of the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce, is a professional development program that provides participants first-hand exposure to the inner workings of Lawrence and Douglas County. Since its creation in 1982, the program has developed more than 450 leaders in the community.

Mission

The mission of the Leadership Lawrence program is to inspire and strengthen active leadership in our community.

Outcomes for Leadership Lawrence:

1. Leadership Skill Training

A foundation of information and insight about what it means to be a leader, and how to effectively provide leadership in the community or business.
An understanding of civic leadership principles and competencies as outlined by the Kansas Leadership Center.
An awareness of state and local resources to continue leadership skill development.

2. Increased Civic Involvement

A program that encourages civic involvement through various avenues in order to best match opportunities with interests.
A commitment to the challenges and opportunities facing our community.

3 Familiarity with Services and Opportunities in Lawrence and Douglas County

Alumni with the necessary knowledge and tools to become more engaged at exercising leadership in their occupation and the community.
An understanding of the history and inner workings of our community.

4. Expanded Networks

A network of individuals focused on working with others in the community who are seeking to make a difference.
An expanded network of colleagues in the community that may be future customers, clients, friends or referrals.
