PIECE Project
One of the great things about Leadership Lawrence is the opportunity to work with the youth of this community. The mission of the Kansas Health Foundation is to make Kansas the healthiest state in which to raise a child and developing community leaders is a key to that mission. To that end, Leadership Lawrence classes design and implement youth projects during their class year. These are sustainable and involve a lot of volunteer hours, but the rewards are unbelievable.
The PIECE Project (Peer Involvement Enhancing Community Efforts) includes twenty five future leaders. The Class will be engaged in a series of monthly sessions where they will learn about their role in the community and complete the year with a community service project.
The Class Project is sponsored through a grant from the Kansas Health Foundation. Guidelines focus on improving the health and well being of youth living in the area. Sunflower Bank also stepped in to be the Corporate Sponsor of the PIECE Project program. A grant and the commitment of active involvement in the project, by Leadership Lawrence, round out the guidelines.
