Advocacy

Government Affairs

The Lawrence Chamber of Commerce is proud to be the voice for Lawrence business at the city, county, state and congressional levels, advocating on our members' behalf for causes that make it better to do business here in our hometown.

The Chamber represents more than 1,300 businesses in the Lawrence area. As the representative of such a diverse community, the Chamber takes a stand on issues that are important to the growth and prosperity of local business and to our region's economy.

Government and Community Affairs Committee

If you are interested in local, state and national government affairs you should join the Chamber’s Government and Community Affairs Committee.  They meet the second Wednesday of each month at noon.  he committee helps plan the annual Eggs & Issues series, U.S. Legislator series, and also helps to create the legislative agenda for the Chamber.  For more information contact Sue Hack at 785.865.4421 or by email at shack@lawrencechamber.com.

Current Election Information

The Chamber strives to provide members and the public information about current and upcoming elections.  From surveying candidates to offering public forums, the Chamber knows how important it is to be well informed.  We encourage everyone to use the power of voting in every election.  For Current Survey Responses, Click here.

Legislative Resources

For comprehensive and objective information regarding Kansas legislative issues, the Chamber recommends visiting www.kslegislature.org. This is the official Web site of the Kansas legislative branch and includes information on all Bills currently being considered, including the full text of the Bill, scheduled hearings and more. There is also a tracking feature, “Lobbyist-in-a-box”, that can be very helpful when tracking specific Bills or issues. The Web site also features Senate and House rosters, Committee rosters, as well as legislative calendars.
