Privacy Policy
Your privacy is one of our primary concerns. The Lawrence Chamber of Commerce makes every effort to provide you with a safe and private environment. The Lawrence Chamber of Commerce's privacy policy tells you what information we gather and how we use it. This privacy policy applies to all Lawrence Chamber of Commerce sites, including lawrencechamber.com and visitlawrence.com.
Information Collection
The Lawrence Chamber of Commerce collects two types of information:
- Personal Information When you sign up for services or request information, you may be asked to provide personal information. Personal data may also be requested when registering for events or email services. This information will not be released without authorization from you and we will not disclose personal identification information.
- Web Site Activity Data Activity data is gathered through several methods, and is tracked as a whole rather than individually. This allows us to track the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce Web site — we never use it to personally identify you. By tracking we can build the most effective Web site for all visitors. Generally, we look at how well pages, products or sections of the Web site perform based on traffic. Specifically, we can determine which areas are most effective or appropriate based on the amount of traffic to particular areas.
Information Usage
The Lawrence Chamber of Commerce will not disclose to any business personal information that identifies you to any third party without your consent unless we clearly define the nature and manner of disclosure or disclosure is legally required or to protect our rights.
Registration
When using some of our Web sites and signing up for certain selected services (such as information requests), users must first register. During registration, users are required to give their contact information (such as name, email address, mailing address and phone number). We also may collect demographic information (such as job title, company, etc.). For internal purposes, we use this information to communicate with users and provide requested services, and, for our Web site visitors, to provide a more personalized experience on our sites. We use aggregate demographic information about our audience to improve our service, for marketing purposes and/or industry reporting purposes.
For our services that require payment (such as event and seminar registration), we also collect credit card information (such as account name, number and expiration date), which is used for billing purposes only, and is not otherwise shared.
Email Newsletters
If users wish to subscribe to our email newsletters, we ask for contact information (such as name, email address and, occasionally, demographic information). We use this information in the same manner as we use contact information in the registration process described above. Recipients of our newsletters can unsubscribe using the instructions listed at the end of the email newsletter.
Surveys and Contests
From time to time we invite users to provide information via surveys or contests. Participation in these surveys or contests is completely voluntary and the user therefore has a choice whether to disclose requested contact information (such as name and mailing address) and demographic information (such as zip code or job title). In addition to other uses set forth in this policy, contact information collected in connection with surveys and contests is used to notify the winners and award prizes, to monitor or improve the use and satisfaction of the site.
Communications With Us
We have features where users can submit information to us (such as our feedback forms and contact information for each Chamber staff member).
Notification of Privacy Changes
The Lawrence Chamber of Commerce reserves the right to change this privacy policy at any time. When changes are made they will be posted to the Web site immediately.
Credit Card Data
The Lawrence Chamber of Commerce is committed to keeping personal information secure during commerce transactions by using a secured SSL encryption with all direct transactions that involve using credit card or banking information. This process allows the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce to send your credit card number and personal data over the Internet securely. These encrypted data files are securely stored on Lawrence Chamber of Commerce servers. Once encrypted, only the credit card's authorization company has the ability to decrypt it. Additionally, we store any personal information you submitted on forms (i.e., your address, email and billing information) on our secure server. Our server is tightly monitored and controlled. Only those with proper authorization have access to this information.

If a user's personally identifiable information changes (such as zip code), or if a user no longer desires to receive information from us, we provide a way to correct or update that user's personal data. You can contact the Chamber Webmaster at lknoll@lawrencechamber.com or 785-865-4420.
